My Name is Jamecia Warthen

I started Designing Fashion just by wanting to look different from everyone. I was a trendsetter in high school, and it would be something as simple as a headband I had all colors in. My peers were paying attention. They started to wear the same. When I got out of high school, I always had a different look to what I chose to put together, so you could say I was somewhat a stylist. Around the time I had my third child, I stopped working for clothing stores and brought a sewing machine. I wanted to stay home with my children so that I could be there for them to raise them properly. So first started just making waist wraps for my family, and they loved them. I moved to Germany, and that’s when I began to get serious about making it a fashion business. I created my logo and wrote down what I would be making and the things I would sell for my online boutique.

When I moved back to America, I was anxious to have my fifth child and start my Fashion business. I started attending women’s business workshops, where I got a chance to be in my first fashion show in 2019, the Heartbeat Gala. One of my models introduced me to another model that walked for a boutique in town called Mary’s Boutique. She introduced me to Mrs.Tracy, the owner. We hit it off she was having a show a week from the first show, and she wanted me to be in; it was a tight schedule, but I agreed. I did four fashion shows with her throughout 2019; going into 2020, I was ready to take off with my business. I took a trip to New York and bought a lot of materials and things I needed to get started in February 2019. Then Coronavirus hit. On top of that, my husband and I were going into separation from our marriage. I ended up moving back to Florida, and now I’m establishing myself in Jacksonville.
